Fascia is the the body’s web - a thin tissue that wraps and supports every muscle, bone, organ and nerves in the body. It is what keeps everything connected and separates everything.
Made up of densely packed collagen that is highly elastic, hydrated, innervated and vascularised, which provides shock absorption, networking communication and force transmission.
Fascia doesn’t just wrap around everything - it is made up of myofascial lines.
They are lines that connect muscles, tendons, and ligaments. These lines transfer the body’s tension, movement, force and strain from one area to another area.
When the fascia lacks hydration there is a decrease of glide and leads to scar tissue development. When it is tight or restricted you may see behaviour changes, shorter strides, stiffness or compensating movement.

Knowing these Myofascial lines means treating the whole horse and not just the sore area, the horse will compensate and create more soreness elsewhere in their body.
So we treat the whole horse!
Massage helps to keep the healthy movements, break up adhesions, improve circulation, and fascia elastic.
