Do Horse's Not in Work Require Massage?

ree

Signs that your horse needs a massage

Do you feel your horse is always on edge?

Involved in high stress environments?

Sore areas? Feels tighter on one side versus the other side?

Horse's can benefit from massage when their not in active work. When they are not in work, they are not moving around as much as they should be naturally.

Horse's with arthritis can benefit more as massage helps to relieve arthritis pain due to techniques involved.

Muscle spasms are fibers within the muscle which has become knotted and when left untreated the knot becomes bigger and more painful, which can lead to decreased range of motion.

Massage promotes relaxation, maintains muscle tone, improves circulation, comfort for older or retired horses by reducing stiffness and discomfort, aids in relieving pain, increase range of motion and can help prevent injuries.

Having a regular massage sessions can be benefical in many ways. A maintenance massage should be done at least twice a month if a horse is not in work. With improved blood circulation will lead to more rapid healing of injuries and decrease the risk of injury.

Massage relaxes the muscles, nerves and your horse mentally to help adjust to stressful or new environments.

Overall YES a horse that is not in work, will also benefit from massage as much as a horse that is in active work.
